Estonian wedding at Ojako

12. July 2018

For Maria and Garret Estonian music, history and culture are very close to heart and they wished that their wedding day would reflect it as well. We drew inspiration from old Estonian wedding traditions and carried out some special and significant rituals.

Genuinely Estonian mid summer wedding party, where the sea, music and native traditions were held in honour.

After the ceremony the guests blessed the bride and the groom with grains, on the way to the wedding party location they stopped at a stork’s nest, before the  dinner the parents offered wedding bread to the couple and in the evening the game was played for the bridal wreath. The whole day (and night) was full of music and many wonderful musicians. The guests  also had an opportunity to perform on the stage if they wanted to. The dancing and live music went on till the early hours of morning. A smaller group of guests were also able to take part in an adventurous afterparty we had organised in Viljandi.
